Recommended Resources - Client Centered Intensive Treatment

Client Centered Intensive Treatment Model

Network for Ethical Treatment is an in-development nonprofit organization with a mission of cross-systemic collaboration and program development, forming a network of providers who seek to uphold and advance our field's clinical and ethical standards.  Paula Soto (EMDRIA Approved Consultant) and Catanna Roberson (EMDRIA Approved Consultant In Training) are offering NET groups, as well as an Intensive EMDR therapist Groups.IO space, to create opportunities for the sharing of resources, knowledge and collaborative connections.   You do not need to join our network to participate in groups - we just ask that you respect our mission, boundaries, and intellectual property.  Dates, times, and topics are on registration form.

Client Centered Intensive Treatment Model

Client Centered Intensive Treatment (CCIT) is an adaptable and scalable mental health service* delivery model

*Services = assessment; treatment; referrals/service coordination; resources; education; advocacy

Developed and operated by the service providers and the population being served.

Operations, structure and processes:

  • Comprehensive trauma competent assessment and referrals
  • Collaboration between providers of coordinated services
  • Multi-level and cross-systemic resources and treatment
  • Prioritizing psychoeducation and public health education
  • Utilizing ongoing input from stakeholders
  • Ethical standards, clinical best practices, and cultural competency as operational imperatives.
  • Embedded professional development support for providers
  • Framework and clinical approaches are grounded in intersectional perspectives.

CCIT is scalable and adaptable from micro to macro:

  • Individual provider/local referral network
  • Special population programs (such as FITT)
  • Large-scale network of providers serving diverse populations. (Network clinicians, regardless of modality, meet clinical standards of CCIT; CCIT model supports clients to choose when they do intensive work - thus, CCIT in its macro scale, will serve all levels of outpatient need.)

CCIT was developed in 2024 by Intersections Wellness Intensive Treatment (owner Paula Soto) and Frontline Alchemy Care (owner William Roberson/Catanna Roberson)  with collaborative input from a number of experts in the first responder and trauma treatment professions.  CCIT's first special population program is FITT.

Phase 1 considerations - complex trauma

Flash vs. Four Blinks: Understanding the Differences

  • Overview by Catanna Roberson LMFT

Attribution from The Four Blinks website: The Four Blinks Version of Flash is a version of Flash developed by Thomas Zimmerman, Ms.Ed., LPCC, that is conceptually and practically different from the “official” version taught by the developer of the Flash Technique, Dr. Phil Manfield.  To be trained by Dr. Manfield, see: FlashTechnique.com.  To be trained by Ricky Greenwald in his versions of the Flash Technique, see his Trauma Institute training.

Flash technique is a method used in EMDR therapy to help clients process traumatic memories quickly and effectively.

. It involves having clients think about a distressing memory while simultaneously engaging in a distracting task, like imagining a series of rapid flashes of light.

. This technique is particularly useful for clients who may be overwhelmed by the direct confrontation of traumatic memories.

Four Blinks is an advanced version of the Flash Technique

. It incorporates four distinct "blinks" or phases to help clients process trauma more deeply and systematically

. This method is designed to be even more efficient and effective, making it suitable for clients with complex trauma or those who need a more structured approach to processing their experiences.

Ideal Clients

Flash Technique: Suitable for clients who are new to EMDR or those who may be easily overwhelmed by direct exposure to traumatic memories. It's also helpful for clients who need a quick and less intense method to begin processing trauma.

Four Blinks: Ideal for clients with more complex trauma histories or those who have not responded to traditional EMDR techniques. This method is also beneficial for clients in high-stress professions, such as first responders and military personnel, who may need a more structured and intensive approach to trauma processing.
