I work with consultees to identify somatic and mindfulness skills that fit with their current scope of practice and that build the clinician's confidence in helping a client to widen their window of affective tolerance; develop the ability to remain present with intense material on the somatic and emotional channels; and build their experience of self-agency in managing their pain and emotions - building trust (AIP) in their own capacity to listen to their body for its wisdom and work in the healing process.
For Yoga Alliance registered yoga teachers, I offer YA CEs for the consultation. A consultee does not need to be a yoga teacher to benefit from the group, as I tailor what I offer to a consultee's own current level of embodiment, helping them first find somatic skills that benefit their own ability to stay regulated in the therapy session, and to mitigate the somatic and nervous system impacts of our work. Then we identify skills specific to clients' needs. These skills can range from very simple and titrated breathing and mindfulness practices, accessible stretches and postures while seated in a chair, or guidance on sequencing a 30-90 minute trauma focused yoga practice.
