Frequently Asked Questions

Please email if your questions are not answered adequately below.

Access to affordable, quality, ethically delivered treatment is a core value of Intersections Wellness and of the social work profession.  Unfortunately, in order to provide treatment that aligns with my clinical and ethical standards, I am currently unable to accept new clients using insurance.  Here are some options that may help make treatment accessible:

  • HSA/FSA
  • VCAP
  • Out of Network - I will provide, upon request, a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for out of network reimbursement; I do not do out of network billing.
  • We do hope to add therapists who accept insurance in the future.   If you are an independent therapist who may be a good fit with Intersections Wellness' values and clinical perspectives, please reach out to Paula to discuss.
  • I (Paula) will continue to reassess this decision as situations evolve.
  • For information about why some therapy businesses are finding it ethically necessary to make the difficult decision to step away from insurances, the investigative journalism on Propublica is a reputable resource to explore.

In compliance with the "No Surprises Act" intended to inform healthcare recipient of what they will be charged annually for healthcare services, therapists must provide each client with a "Good Faith Estimate."  As psychotherapy differs from many medical treatments, in that a client's needs change over time, and insurance coverages differs from person to person, we are able to provide a very general estimate based on the hourly self pay the self rates.  Here is the general Good Faith Estimate.

Intersections Wellness  Intensive Treatment LLC - Rates - 2 hour minimum sessions

$225/hour - PA

$275/hour - SC

Adjunct Therapy Self Pay Rates - 1.5 hour or less session

1 hour session - $175

45 minute session - $135

30 minute session - $95

Extended session 1.5 hours  - $250

I offer, when able, a limited number of sliding scale slots for self pay clients. Please email to request more information.

Adjunct therapy is treatment provided in addition to the therapy that a client receives from their primary therapist.  The primary therapist works with the client on areas of treatment that are within their skillset, and provides ongoing clinical support.  The adjunct therapist collaborates with the primary therapist, to add on specialized treatment that the client and primary therapist have agreed will help the client to achieve their therapy goals.  Most clients continue to see their primary therapist while working with their adjunct therapist; some clients may decrease frequency of their sessions with their primary therapist while working with the adjunct therapist.

Intensive treatment is offered through a separate business, Intersections Wellness Intensive Treatment, LLC.  Intensives are rapidly growing in popularity, as they allow for therapy to be customized to a person's clinical needs and schedule; and intensives often bring tangible results with less time spent overall in therapy than with the insurance-based model of hourly/weekly sessions.  You can learn more about intensives on the Intersections Wellness Intensive Treatment webpage.

Paula will be happy to provide recommendations.

Please feel free to reach out via email, and include the following information:

  • your insurance company, if you will be using your insurance

  • what you feel comfortable sharing, briefly, about what you are looking for in a therapist (for example, experience with grief, neurodivergent affirming, LGBTQ affirming, male, female, etc.)
  • your scheduling needs (daytime/weekdays/evenings/weekends)

Please understand that Paula will do her best to make recommendations to therapists in her professional networks, but she cannot personally vouch for other therapists, guarantee their availability, or guarantee that she can find one that meets all of your criteria.
